Overview

The “IT4T – Information Technologies for Telecommunications” Master’s program forms specialists with superior training for learning, science, and economic activity in a highly topical and long-term field. In accordance with the general policy of the university, the program prepares specialists for rapid integration into the labor market and will decisively contribute to the development of the information society and the knowledge society in Romania and Europe.

In the context of the strong development of the IT&C industry, the Master’s program in Information Technologies for Telecommunications assumes the training of bachelor graduates or young specialists who want to complete their technical knowledge and skills towards building or consolidating a sustainable career path.

Specialized Software Engineering Preparation
Train graduates in the sub-domain of software engineering, with a specific emphasis on the design, implementation, and integration of software systems.

Study Experience

There exists the opportunity for the students to get involved in various research, development, and innovation projects running within the “Gheorghe Asachi” Technical University of Iasi, e.g.:
TrialsNet – Trials Supported By Smart Networks Beyond 5G, a project funded by the European Union’s Horizon-JU-SNS-2022 Research and Innovation Programme,
WiS4Iasi – Wireless System for Intelligent Applications in Safe Intersections.

The framework for these opportunities is set by the existing research labs, such as:
• Iasi Orange 5G Lab – Connected Sensing for Ubiquitous Mobility – Applied Innovation and Research on 5G Laboratory or CONSENSUM-AIR 5G Lab. 

Within this context, the IT4T students can also access yearly private scholarships offered by the university or by companies, such as Orange or Continental Automotive, e.g.

The proposed program targets the following objectives:

Prepare Bachelor graduates in software engineering for the design, implementation, and integration of software systems, with a focus on embedded systems, telecommunication systems, networks, and services.
Provide hands-on experience in deploying wireless and control systems using the Raspberry Pi embedded platform.
Consolidate organizational, communication, and relational skills in students.
Address both cognitive and practical dimensions, emphasizing topics such as smart sensors, wireless sensor networks, remote control, interfacing, wireless communications simulation, machine learning algorithms, and software modeling.

Due to the special dynamics of the IT&C concerned areas, the IT4T Master’s program aims to combine the main aspects regarding the latest technological trends. In specific terms, the program aims at consolidating organizational, communication and relational skills while covering both cognitive and practical (instrumental-operational) dimensions of the following topics:

  1. Smart sensors and wireless sensor networks design. Remote control and interfacing in wireless sensor networks
  2. Wireless communications simulation with Simulink and implementation with Software Defined Radio
  3. Machine learning algorithms for multimedia signal acquisition, transmission and processing
  4. Software approaches for modeling and simulation of information systems and systems components
  5. Deployment of wireless and control systems by using the Raspberry Pi embedded platform
  6. Organizational culture, personal development planning and integrative project management.

 

What can you do with this degree?

The graduates will have knowledge and capabilities in defining and specifying the initial system requirements, defining and structuring software architectures, and specifying, validating, designing, implementing, testing, integrating, maintaining, and developing software subsystems. The programmme graduates shall have a vision at the system level and conduct designing procedures by highlighting different levels, from hardware devices and platforms to software techniques and means to communication and interconnecting aspects.

In 2030, the number of people working in the IT&C industry in the North-East Region of Romania is estimated at ~35.000, compared to ~20.000 in 2020 and ~5.000 in 2005.

The IT4T program is specially designed to ensure competencies and skills that ensure rapid absorption of graduates into the labour market regionally and internationally.

Opportunities for students and graduates:

  • Internships at companies in IT&C and European universities (with Erasmus financial support) for working on the dissertation thesis;
  • Jobs offered by major companies in Computer Science and Engineering;
  • Jobs in research institutes in the country or abroad;
  • Continuing with Ph.D. studies within our faculty or other Romanian or foreign universities.
About the Faculty of Electronics, Telecommunications and Information Technologies

The Faculty of Electronics, Telecommunications, and Information Technology, an integral part of the  “Gheorghe Asachi” Technical University in Iasi, is dedicated to educating students at the three levels of study (undergraduate, master’s, and doctoral) and promoting science and technology, by disseminating, generating and preserving the most advanced knowledge in the fields of electronics and telecommunications, as well as in the interdisciplinary fields in which electronics and telecommunications play a significant role, at the European and international top level.
