Where is Iasi located?
Situated in the northeastern part of Romania, Iasi is the third largest city in the country. Iasi has traditionally been one of the leading centers of Romanian social, cultural, academic, and artistic life.
What kind of institution is TUIASI?
It’s a technical university with more than 200 years of tradition and a community of 11 faculties. Nowadays, it represents a pole of influence and power within the largest city in the northeast of Romania. From among the 56 state institutions of higher education in the country, TUIASI has the oldest tradition in engineering education.
What types of studies are available?
The academic offer includes bachelor, master, and doctoral studies.
What are the age criteria for applicants?
There are no age criteria for the applicant. However, the applicant should be at least a high school graduate.
Will I need to take the Romanian language course if I want to study at TUIASI?
If a student wants to attend courses taught in English, there is no need for him/her to take the Romanian language course. If the student registers for courses taught in Romanian, he/she must take the 1-year Romanian language course before applying to a program.
Do I need to take an English proficiency test?
You will have to pass an English language examination here at TUIASI or you can submit a language certificate internationally.
What are the visa requirements for international students?
You will need to apply for a visa at the Romanian embassy/ consulate in your country before arrival. Student visas may take from two days to 2 months to process and one can only apply for a student visa once the Ministry of Education in Romania has issued the letter of acceptance to study. Do I need health insurance?
Students under 26 years old who are not employed can get free state-hospital care. However, private international health insurance is highly recommended to purchase before arrival in Romania to have all the necessary covers and to get the Romanian student visa.
How can I open a bank account as a TUIASI student?
You can go to any bank in Iași with the documents requested by them and the certificate issued by the university, certifying that you are our student.
As a TUIASI student, may I benefit from discounts for public transportation?
Yes, like any other student of our university. First, you should buy a pass for half a month from the public transportation ticket booth, after two weeks you will go with it to the Student Services Department which will issue a monthly pass at a discounted price.
